Core Beliefs

We affirm that:
  • There is one God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit: omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, the beginning and ending of all things. (Deut. 6:4; Isa. 40:28; Matt. 28:19)
  • God created all that exists by a direct act of creation; man and woman are created in the image of God. (Gen. 1:26-27)bible-based-beliefs.jpg
  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God, being the complete and final revelation of God to man and the only infallible guide for faith and life. (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21)
  • Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, is virgin-born, lived a sinless life, in his death made vicarious atonement for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and is coming again. (John 1:1; Col. 1:15-20)
  • The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment, is the agent of the new birth, and is the source of divine enablement for the believer. We believe the Bible does not support sign gifts as an evidence of the Holy Spirit's work today. (John 16:7-8; Eph. 1:13-14)
  • Satan is part of the angelic host, created by God; he is now the greatest adversary of God and the church, opposing its mission, but he has been conquered by Christ on the cross and condemned to everlasting punishment. (Eph. 2:2; Rev. 12:9)
  • By voluntary transgression Adam and Eve fell from their created state of innocence, in consequence of which all people are now sinners by nature and by choice, and are therefore under the just condemnation of God. (Rom. 5:12; Eph. 2:1-2)
  • Salvation is by God's grace through faith; it is necessary because of man's sin, and through it the believer is justified before God, eternally secured, by the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. (Rom. 8:29-30; Eph. 2:8-9)
  • A local church is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by a covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, with the rights and privileges invested in them by God's Word, observing the ordinances of believer's baptism and the Lord's Supper, governed by God's law and engaging in the instruction of righteousness. (Acts 2:41-42; Rom. 6:4; 1 Cor. 11:26)
  • There is a resurrection of the just and the unjust to judgment before God, the just to spend eternity in full enjoyment of God's presence and the unjust to spend eternity in everlasting punishment in the lake of fire. (Heb. 9:27-28; Rev. 20:15; Rev. 21:3-5)
