This course provides a theology and description of the spiritual disciplines in individual and corporate contexts.MP102 Evangelism 2 hours Designed to equip students to understand the why and how of evangelism. The biblical message and method provide the foundation. An understanding of our times helps in knowing how best to apply these principles. The role of each individual, network, and the Church as a whole is developed. MP201 Church Finance 3 hours A course in basic accounting and bookkeeping as applicable to ministry for a small church or new church plant. The course is designed for the student with little or no background in accounting. The scope of the course covers cash accounting methods, annual budgeting, and the preparation and reading of financial reports. MP301 Homiletics 2 hours A course treating preparation and delivery of sermons. Examination is made of the three traditional sermon types: topical, textual, and expositional. Class messages are required and constructive criticism given. MP302 Pastoral Theology 2 hours A formulation and study of the life and labours, liberties and restrictions, and relations and obligations of the minister of the gospel. Areas studied include visitation, weddings, funerals, pastoral ethics, and decorum. MP311 Pastoral Counselling 3 hours A course to instruct the student in the principles of pastoral counselling and familiarize him with the various problems requiring counsel that may be encountered in a pastoral ministry. MP321 Church Administration 3 hours A study of the principles and practices of organizing and administering churches. Church constitutions, parliamentary procedure, office procedures, and budgets are emphasized. Methods of implementing these principles and practices in church planting will be addressed. MP391 Pastoral Practicum 1 hour A course designed to give the student practical experience in a pastoral ministry. The student, under supervision of Seminary personnel, is placed in an intern relationship with a local pastor for direct involvement in church activity. Two student conferences with the professor are required to analyze the work done and to seek guidance. MP401 Christian Home 3 hours A study of the principles and practices of a home in which Christ is pre-eminent. The Scriptures provide the foundation for the study. Topics addressed include dating, marriage, and parenting. Church EducationMC201 Philosophy of Christian Education 3 hoursA projected model of Christian education with its concepts of objectives, curriculum, methodology, and roles of student and teacher. Special consideration is given to comparing and contrasting the philosophies of religious and public education. MC202 Church Ministries 3 hours An introduction to church ministries dealing with the practical implication of research in these areas: (1) types and principles of leadership; (2) principles of organization and administration; (3) types of ministries in a church; and (4) the church growth movement. MC401 Teaching Methods 2 hours Major teaching methods are defined, described, diagrammed, and demonstrated in this course. It is conducted as a true seminar. Also, each student becomes proficient in the use of proper testing procedures for teaching. MissionsMM101 Introduction to Missions 3 hoursA general introduction of contemporary missions. Beginning with a biblical and theological foundation, the course surveys missionary activities found in Scripture and explores how missions expanded throughout church history. The course reviews the evangelistic mandate and the formation of new local churches.
